Failed login notifications

Does anyone know when DOORS will try to email on login failures? Is it immediately upon a user failing to login (I would assume). Also, where does the IP address DOORS uses come from?

Thanks in advance,

It sends the messages right away. Sending is from the client machine having the trouble, not the server where you'd expect.

You setup email on the 'General' tab of the DB Properties sheet. The help says it needs the 'SMTP Mail Server'; it actually (for us) needs the 'Relay Server'. I don't know what it uses the 'Mail Account' for. Notice the server must have access to the Mail Server.

Client Port 25 must be poked through the firewall.

You specify who gets the failed login emails (if any) on the Login Policy sheet. The specified user's email account is used. We use a generic DoorsAdmin@MyCompany.com account.

I see "DOORS Mail Server" is the sender, but I don't recall how that is setup. Its non-existent.

I see the emails do NOT specify which Database or Licensing server was queried to get the failed license, so you may need separate recieve email accounts, one for each database. <<Digressing: curious it reads the database to send Emails for failed licensing; I didn't think it even queried the database until licensing was secured>>

Successful and failed logins are recorded on the Server here: <DB Install Directory/
/v6data/logs/login_history.txt. Logouts are not recorded.
